High
Pressure CO2 Fire
Extinguishing System
1.
Introduction
1.1
Features of the High Pressure CO2 Fire Extinguishing
System
CO2
is a kind of incombustible inert gas which never supports burning.
It can be liquidized, charged into bottles and transported easily,
and is one of the most widely used fire extinguishing agent. CO2
is colorless and smell-less when it is ejected at atmospheric
temperature and pressure. It has the properties of rapid extinguishing
and good space submergence and will not dirt the preserved objects.
As a
fire extinguishing agent, CO2 can asphyxiate and cool
the fire. The key effect on fire is asphyxiation.
Compared
with the halon fire extinguishing system, the CO2 Fire
Extinguishing System can be manufactured at a lower cost and will
not pollute the environment. Because of the lower cost of CO2,
it will replace halon as fire extinguishing agent in many cases.
Besides,
our ZMT series of High Pressure CO2 Fire Extinguishing
System has the following properties in its structure.
(1)
Metal-membrane sealer of the container ensures an excellent air-tight
seal and makes permanent storage possible.
(2)
Multi-start mode (e.g., electric start, pneumatic start, electric-manual
start and jury mechanical-manual start) makes absolutely reliable
start assured.
(3)
Special electric start device decreases the start current to a
lower level, which has resulted in a great reduction in power
for the control unit and in volume of the battery and has made
the system more compact.
(4)
Particular design of the bottle’s straight-through valve reduces
the flow resistance of CO2 extinguishing agent to the
minimum.
1.2
Application Scope
(1)
CO2 fire extinguishing agent can be used for extinguishing
ordinary solid fire (i.e., A type fire), gas fire (i.e., C type
fire) and three kinds of liquid fire (B type fire).
(2)
CO2 fire extinguishing agent does not conduct electricity,
so it can be used for electric equipment and electric circuits.
(3)
CO2 fire extinguishing agent will neither pollute the
environment at fire site or corrode equipment, nor leave any vestige
when it is used for fire extinguishing . So it can be used for
the places with valuable articles or precious documentation.
1.3
Exceptional Cases
The
fire extinguisher should not be used for the follows:
(1)The
fire of chemical products that can supply oxygen by themselves,
such as cellulose nitrate, gunpowder, etc.
(2)
The fire of active metal and their hydride.
(3)
The fire of self-decomposable chemicals.
(4)
The fire hidden within fibers.
